Challenge Rules

  1. Teams will consist of no more than four people, unless otherwise specified by the challenge.

    1. If a teammate cannot continue due to injury or prior commitment, they can be replaced on a Saturday and must stay with the team for an entire week before either further replacement or the original team member can return. Substitutions can be made under special circumstances with the Challenge Director (me).

    2. Substitute teammates must pay the substitute entrance fee to join a team.

    3. Substitutes can support more than one team over the course of a challenge, but not more than one at a time.

  2. All accumulated meters must be logged in the Border Rower App or through the ReSport or other third party portal.

  3. Participants can utilize any rowing device to accumulate meters, C2, Water Rower, etc. Additionally, Participants can use their meters accumulated on the water. On the water meters should be estimated if a formal GPS system isn’t used.

  4. If someone has limited mobility and cannot row on a machine or on the water, they can request that their device be allowed through the Challenge Director.

  5. In general, Challenges will start at at 12PM Boston time. A countdown clock will be set up prior to Challenge announcement

  6. Teams can either be assembled by Border Rowers Challenge Director or they can be set up on their own. A survey will go out for potential rowers with an assessment of their abilities. Scores will be self ranked on a scale of 1-3, with a three being a highly motivated rower and a one more of casual rower to try to get like minded Participants together.

  • 1: Casual Rower, in it for the fun of it

  • 2: Somewhat competitive, I will hold my own

  • 3: Superglue me to the seat, I am in it to win it

Costs

  • Vary, but are generally close to $1 per day (+ $10 surcharge for international rowers to defray award medal shipping costs)

  • Rowers will be encouraged to join our facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/rowerswithoutborders

  • Participants are also encouraged, but not required, to make a nominal donation to Doctors without Borders or for whatever current charity Border Rowers is currently supporting. Border Rowers proudly supports making the world a better place.

  • Participants are free to use any logos from Border Rowers to make their own t-shirts or other novelty items. Border Rowers may have links for purchases in the future.
